Meet the Johnstons. Fresh back from a family 50th wedding anniversary celebration trip to the Grand Canyon, they are a work hard, play hard family. Bill and Betsy captured my heart because like the Johnstons, my mom and dad celebrated their 50th anniversary a year ago.
Betsy and I met several years ago on the beach. I was shooting a “trash the dress session” with a beautiful blonde bride who happened to be a mutual friend. Betsy booked me for Labor Day 2011. Irene ruined our plans. Isaac tried in 2012, but we won out!
As I sat around the meal table, post shoot with this lovely family, drinking wine, passing around iPads, vicariously visiting the Grand Canyon, and talking photography and modeling with a bubbly blonde firecracker, I made it official. I’ve adopted myself in. After all, we both come from broker families and shared our 911 stories. Small world that links us all together, don’t you think?
It’s the magic of cousins at the beach. My cousin magic happened over games of German spotlight, Spoons, and Treasure Hunt at New Smyrna Beach and on the Choptank River in Cambridge. I get their bliss.
Two photographers and a pretty awesome encourager make for one special family.
Sunny . . .full of energy, light and love. She was my day’s greeter and stayed by my side through the whole evening.
Reader, it’s not too late to book your beach session. But it will be soon, so if you have a hankering, do it today:)
