One of my favorite poets sent this to me yesterday.
I’ve followed many a shiny
star
into many a stinking stable
to find it
empty
Leaving, I look back-
Wait!
A streak of light
on a strand of straw
bids me stop,
look,
listen.
My friend, Lyn Brakeman has taught me so much about the gospel . . . you can read her blog here.
She put me in the perfect frame of mind to be completely touched by the Crossroads Community Church Christmas pageant last night. What a delight.
We all have our idols. We always will. Be it shoe or sequined hat, it jazzes us, it’s the way we were designed. . . but the gospel sits quietly waiting for us to open her, and she’s quite the package. Best part? She’s for all of us, without reserve. Now that’s a gift.
