I’m one of those girls who has a lifesong to carry her through a rough patch.
Two summers ago it was Jason Mraz’s Details in the Fabric. I’d tie on my running shoes at half past dark, head out under the moonlight and cry and run.
This past summer it was OneRepublic’s Good Life.
But now . . .it’s my girl, Toby Lightman. (thank you, Jonda, for sharing her )
When I don’t have the words, she says it for me.
The smoke is clearing.
I still tie on my shoes and run and cry but more often than not it’s a healthy cry.
I have a whole collection of wooden cobbler’s shoe forms . . .thirteen to be exact, that are out across the universe . . . sent to people who got me through . . .but that’s a story for another day.
Hear my heart, which has been described as a beautiful, raw nerve.
I’ll take it.
