I LOVE the Fourth of July . . . always have, always will. As a little girl, my family would travel to my grandparents’ home in River Edge, NJ, where we’d decorate our bikes with streamers, drive to the corner and watch the local parade. Then later that night, we’d walk to the other corner to watch the fireworks over the river. I remember loving the sidewalks, having grown up in a neighborhood with none.
I got out the streamers yesterday for my own tribe and their bikes and scooters. . . they just look at me like I was weird.
Their request for the Fourth? A backyard picnic with all the traditional fixins’.
So, we gathered a couple of families that are near and dear to us and let it all hang out.
Guess who won the pie eating contact? Not too sure if he really won.
And a special happy birthday to my ten year old, LILY KATHRYN, who is full of sunshine and sparkle. Her Despicable Me cake was a gift from her sister, Kristiana and cousin, Abby.
I am so grateful to live in the best country in the world. Not perfect, by any means, but perfectly mine . . . just like my family!! I am blessed beyond belief.
