Travolta. Waters. Jonda and Me.

It was the best gift in the world . . . given to me by my dear friend, Jerry Edwards of Chef’s Expressions.   So let me just pause and tell you about Jerry. He works tirelessly for our city, investing  in teams of young chefs at the National Academy Foundation, partnering with Brian and Diana Roberts at Christmas time to feed 600 hundred of the city’s lovliest men a beautiful Christmas meal at The Helping Up Mission, and most recently giving my brother and his wife the most amazing evening at Gramercy Mansion.

But last night it was my turn. Jerry sent me and my friend, Jonda Martin, president of Cable Data Corporation to a lecture and dinner with two of my favorite Johns . .. Travolta and Waters.

Wow . . .what an evening. Cocktails in the Main Building of gorgeous MICA. followed by a fascinating question and answer and YES, I love John Travolta . . . he is  positive energy start to finish. My favorite nugget of the evening? “I tend not to focus much on my regrets . . . “(when asked if he’d ever regretted turning down a role)

Jonda’s?  “life is a beautiful mosaic . . . (when describing the scope and sequence of his career)

Jonda and I  had a wonderful conversation with John and his gorgeous wife, Kelly about a bunch of things, but focusing mostly on parenthood. Yep. We both agreed . . .we fell in love with them both.

Mosaic. YES. Beautiful mosaic.

Jonda and our lecture mate, Emmanuel . . . JHU data cruncher by day . . . salsa dancer by night. We added one to our bucket list.

And did I mention that this is what happens when you hang with the one who gets you? My Wisconsin beauty friend, Jonda, her husband Dan and gorgeous daughter, Lauren sat next to me and Boutique Event’s Jean Wade Mayer at Gavin DeGraw last June . . . she was up dancing and singing the whole night. We repeated the journey in August at Jason Mraz and Christina Perri, and again earlier this week at the Script with Tristan Prettyman.

It’s the live music/ art energy that makes me feel so alive. So happy to have found a partner that shares the bliss.

As Jonda tells me all the time . . . we suck the venom out of each day.

Sweet. Life.
