My favorite senior sessions are the ones that involve besties. Katelyn and Abbey were sent to me as a gift. Both firecrackers, they’ve played sports together since early middle school. Next year, Katelyn will matriculate into the nursing program at my alma mater, York College of PA. Abbey will high tail it out to San Diego. . . .that was my dream as a high school senior, except it was USC. Funny how life comes full circle. I was able to tell Abbey not be afraid; that she could just as easily fall homesick at York College as she could on the west coast, as I did (still have the handwritten stack of letters from my dad to remind me). And nothing is ever permanent. We get fresh starts as needed. And that she would learn just how strong she is by taking the leap. For Katelyn? . . . the nursing majors I lived with at YCP worked WAYYY harder than us education majors.
Best part? Katelyn and Abbey have another memory to deposit in the bank of besties. Stay tuned for Abbey’s gallery.
