Lake Centennial has been her personal playground for a lifetime, and sharing an early fall romp to explore her “quiet places” allowed me to see her joy. I last photographed Lauren as a frisky five year old, swinging with abandon while singing show tunes at the top of her lungs. Lauren has managed to hold onto her friskiness, tending more toward dance these days; her spirit is still free and easy. Lauren will travel, interface with new cultures and learn about her wild, beautiful world as our world begins to free up. In the meanwhile, she is reading, smiling and dancing through her days.
Lauren’s mom and I started out as burgeoning high school English teachers many years ago in Frederick County. All these year later, we still hold a bond as we share a love of running, yoga, reading, writing, self-discovery and love. Yes, we had our rounds of maternal advice for Lauren, but she’s teaching us too . . . by her actions. What beauty. . .
